Privacy

Ratio is a calculator for your Mac. It has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. What you write stays on your Mac, or in your own iCloud Drive if you turn on sync.

What Ratio keeps on your Mac

Your sheets are saved as files on your Mac. Your settings, like the theme, font size and language, are saved in the app's preferences. Your trial start date and, once you buy, your license key are kept in the macOS Keychain. None of this is sent to us.

iCloud sync

If you turn on iCloud sync, your sheets are saved to a Ratio folder in your iCloud Drive so your other Macs can see them. Apple stores and syncs them under your Apple Account. We never have access to them. Apple's own privacy policy covers iCloud.

Exchange rates

To convert currencies, Ratio downloads current rates from Coinbase and ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com), about once an hour and when your Mac wakes up. These requests only ask for the latest rates. They don't include anything you wrote. Like any request on the internet, those services can see your IP address.

Buying and your license

Purchases are handled by Polar, which acts as the seller (merchant of record). Polar collects your name, email address and payment details to process the payment and send your license key. We can see your name, email address and order in our Polar dashboard, and we only use them to help you with your purchase.

When you activate a license, and from time to time afterwards, Ratio sends your license key to Polar to check that it is valid and how many Macs it's activated on. Nothing else is sent with it.

This website

The site is hosted by Vercel. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, an animation library from jsDelivr and some images from Framer's servers. These services can see your IP address and browser details when your browser asks them for files. The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics.

Your rights

You can ask us what we know about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, by writing to hello@useratio.app. Since we only hold purchase details through Polar, that is usually all there is. You can also delete everything Ratio keeps on your Mac by deleting the app, its sheets and its Keychain entry.

Changes

If Ratio starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
