Quadratic equation
An equation where the unknown is squared, like x² − 5x + 6 = 0.
It can have two solutions, one, or none among real numbers. Ratio finds them when you write “solve” in front of the equation. It also solves equations that have no tidy formula, giving an approximate answer.
In Ratio
| You type | Ratio shows |
|---|---|
solve x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0 | x = 2 or x = 3 |
solve 2x + 3 = 11 | x = 4 |
solve cos(x) = x | x ≈ 0.7391 |
