[Glossary](https://useratio.app/glossary) › Money and tax # Percentage change How much a number grew or shrank, as a percent of where it started. From 80 to 100 is a 25% rise: the 20 you gained divided by the 80 you began with. Going back from 100 to 80 is a 20% fall, because the base is now different. Ratio also reads “20% of 150”, “150 + 20%” and “50 is what % of 200”. ## In Ratio | You type | Ratio shows | | --- | --- | | `change(80, 100)` | 25% | | `150 + 20%` | 180 | | `150 - 10%` | 135 | | `50 is what % of 200` | 25% | ## Related [Percentage calculator](https://useratio.app/percentage-calculator) · [All terms](https://useratio.app/glossary) [Try Ratio free for 7 days](https://useratio.app/download) Source: https://useratio.app/glossary/percentage-change
