# Line reference

A way to use the result of another line in a calculation.

In Ratio, L3 means the result on line 3, and prev means the line above. They keep a sheet live: change line 3 and every line that uses it changes with it.

## In Ratio

| You type | Ratio shows |
| --- | --- |
| `price = 1200` | 1,200 |
| `discount = 15%` | 15% |
| `price - discount` | 1,020 |
| `L3 * 2` | 2,040 |
| `prev / 4` | 510 |
