# About Ratio Written on 27 October 2026. Ratio is a notepad calculator for Mac, Windows and Linux. You write sums the way you would on paper, and the answer appears next to each line. ## Why it exists Most calculators show one number and forget how you got there. A spreadsheet remembers, but asks for cells and formulas before it gives you anything. Ratio sits between the two: a plain page where every line is a sum you can read again later, with currencies, units, dates and time zones understood the way you type them. It is meant for the small sums of a normal day: a trip budget, an invoice, a recipe for six instead of four, how many working days are left. See [what a notepad calculator is](https://useratio.app/what-is-a-notepad-calculator), or [everything you can type](https://useratio.app/docs). ## Who makes it Ratio is a small, independent app with no investors and no ads to answer to. Bug reports and ideas sent to [hello@useratio.app](mailto:hello@useratio.app) are read by the developer, not a support desk, and often turn into the next version. ## How it is paid for You try Ratio for free, then buy it once, from $14.99 for one computer. There is no subscription, no ads and no account. A license for two or three computers can mix a Mac, a PC and a Linux machine. On the Mac it is also on the Mac App Store. ## What it never does What you write stays on your computer, or in your own iCloud Drive if you turn on sync on the Mac. Ratio goes online only for exchange rates, stock prices, updates and license checks, and those requests never include anything you wrote. The details are in the [privacy policy](https://useratio.app/privacy). ## How it grows The first public version, Ratio 0.1, came out on 14 October 2026. New versions arrive often, and every change is written down in the [changelog](https://useratio.app/changelog). ## Find Ratio elsewhere - [Product Hunt](https://www.producthunt.com/products/ratio-6) - [GitHub releases](https://github.com/adrianhqs/ratio-releases) - [StartupBase](https://startupbase.io/products/ratio) - [DevHunt](https://devhunt.org/tool/ratio) - [MacNative](https://macnative.io/apps/ratio) - [MacBase](https://macbase.app/apps/ratio) - [TryMacApps](https://www.trymacapps.com/app/ratio) Source: https://useratio.app/about
